The beach on Gibbs Cay
Beautiful white sand beach awaits you with a welcoming squadron of friendly sting rays that in crystal clear water that will swim along with you in the shallow waters and even let you touch them if you dare. Gibbs Cay is site of un-investigated, small, colonial era emplacement. (Archival information suggests the structure is French-built gun or observation post. French archival map ca: late 1700’s, labels Gibbs Cay as “Fort Castries.”)
Gibbs Cay also contains one Lucayan site.
WHALE WATCHING EXCURSIONS
During January – April each year the migration of Humpback Whales brings them right past Salt Cay. Come aboard the Buccanneer, a large and comfortable watercraft, and follow the pods of Humpbacks as they move by our island in the Turks Passage. Salt Cay is the number one place in Turks & Caicos Islands for whale watching encounters.
